The Barley Merchant Taproom & Kitchen was born out of a love and appreciation for locally produced beer and the people that brew it. We believe every craft beer can tell a story, one sip at a time. 

We serve beer that is interesting, full of unique and exciting flavours and that pairs well with all kinds of great food. 

We focus on offering local, small batch beer, brewed fresh in communities around BC using traditional methods. Beer made with care by independent owners that are often friends and families who have followed their passion on a quest to create something delicious for all of us to ex-BEER-ience.  

We follow the same philosophy as we curate our list of ciders, spirits, wine and food menus. We’re here to share their story in an environment where our guests have an opportunity to unwind and....

Driven by our guiding principle of “We Serve BC,” our entire draft beer list is 100% curated from independently owned BC craft breweries. 

34 of our 50 taps are dedicated to pouring a variety of unique and flavourful styles that are constantly rotating.  Since opening, we have tapped 

over 1750 unique BC craft beers from 150+ breweries. Check out the archives to see them all!

With BC now having roughly 240 craft breweries, all of which are brewing multiple core beer styles, coupled with a steady stream of new releases, the options are becoming truly limitless.

We strongly believe that every great meal begins with quality, fresh ingredients. Much like the local beer menu we offer.

From our ‘from scratch kitchen’ we proudly offer dishes that are crafted, not cranked out. 

All dressings sauces, stocks, soups and dips are made fresh in house, along with our sourdough, gnocchi and desserts. 

We use in season, BC ingredients whenever possible and strive to use all parts of each product to minimize our food waste. 

Genuine hospitality is a team sport and like any successful team, we are always working together to achieve our common goal. That being to ensure every one of our guests that chooses to join us, thoroughly enjoys their visit and leaves each time feeling like they were served by a team of amazing individuals who genuinely cared about their entire experience from start to finish. 

For this to be something we can achieve, we believe that the role played by every single one of our valued employees of The Barley Merchant is just as vital to our success as the other...... 

With over 60 craft cideries and counting around BC, there is also a bounty of both traditional and innovative ciders made with BC apples, pears and other fun flavourful fruits and ingredients. 

We have dedicated 8 of our taps to BC cider so we will always have a great variety of options for those that prefer it over beer. Also of note, unlike beer, almost all cider produced is gluten free.

Our carefully curated selection of over 30 unque BC spirits is also sourced from a number of talented craft distillers whose offerings are made with BC ingredients like local grain, fruit and produce using traditional distilling methods without additives, preservatives or artificial flavours. 

We've developed a fun and exciting cocktail program with featured season offerings that come and go with limited releases as well as some mainstays like our famous Lavender Collins and House Dill Pickled Caesar.
